ORIENTALIST LANDSCAPES
POSTER SERIES

13 x 30 inches each // 2005

While Orientalism is generally considered to be a 19th-century phenomenon, Western fantasies of the East still exist today. This is especially true as global travel becomes more accessible, and Western tourists venture abroad in pursuit of imaginary landscapes, only to have their fantasies fulfilled through “tourist activities.” Over the course of several posters, I attempted to dispel some of these myths, placing the topic of Orientalism within the context of contemporary landscape, and collapsing the distance between past and present.
