DARIO ROBLETO: ALLOY OF LOVE
7 x 9.5 inches // 288 pages // 2008
This monograph features the work of San Antonio-based artist Dario Robleto, and commemorates his 2008 exhibition Alloy of Love. While Robleto has used a wide range of materials and objects over the course of his ten-year career, the influence of music and the importance of language are consistent threads in his work. We highlighted these themes by giving equal prominence to the titles and "ingredient" lists, which often take up entire pages and are integral to the meaning of the pieces. Colorful pages interspersed throughout the book feature lyrics from ten songs chosen by the artist.
The book also highlights the simultaneous old-world and contemporary feel of Robleto's work, with playful graphic flourishes that are interrupted by rules, or wrapped around blocky sans-serif letterforms. Finally, gold, silver and bronze book markers, metallic inks and foil details on the cover reflect the "alloy" theme.
